Basic English is helpful but not always required. Workplaces use a mix of Ukrainian, Russian and English. Translation tools fill the gap. Asia Work assesses language during the matching call and briefs the employer accordingly.
This page outlines what candidates need to qualify for placement in Ukraine through Asia Work. It is written for recruitment agency partners to use as a pre-screening reference. Submitting candidates who meet these requirements reduces processing time and increases placement rates for your agency.
For the full partnership workflow, see Our Process.
Basic Requirements (All Positions)
Every candidate, regardless of job type, must meet these baseline criteria:
Age: 21 to 55 years. Some employers accept candidates aged 18–20 for entry-level positions or 56–60 for experienced specialists. Confirm with your partnership manager before submitting candidates outside the 21–55 range.
Passport: Valid national passport with at least 12 months remaining validity from the expected date of work permit application. Passports with less than 12 months validity will be rejected. Both ECR and non-ECR passports are accepted for Indian citizens.
Criminal record: Clean police clearance certificate (PCC) issued within the last 6 months by the relevant authority in the candidate's home country. Candidates with serious criminal convictions (assault, theft, drug offenses, fraud) are not eligible. Minor traffic violations do not disqualify.
Medical fitness: Medical certificate confirming the candidate is free from: tuberculosis (chest X-ray required), HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections. The exam must be conducted at a government-recognized hospital or clinic. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. A second medical screening takes place in Ukraine after arrival.
Physical ability: Candidates must be physically capable of performing the job duties. Most positions involve manual labor: standing for 8+ hours, lifting 10–25 kg, working in industrial environments. Candidates with conditions that prevent physical labor should not be submitted for manual positions.
Photographs: 4 passport-sized photos, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months.

English: Basic conversational English is sufficient for most positions. Workers should understand simple workplace instructions and safety terminology. For supervisory or specialized technical roles, intermediate English is expected.
Russian: Functional knowledge is an advantage in some workplaces but not a requirement.
Candidates who speak multiple languages or have communication skills beyond their trade qualification are valued by employers and may receive preferential matching.
Document Authentication
All educational and professional certificates must be authenticated for use in Ukraine. The required process depends on the candidate's home country:
Apostille (for countries party to the Hague Apostille Convention): Educational certificates must carry an apostille stamp from the designated authority. In India, this is the Ministry of External Affairs. In the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs. Process typically takes 5–15 business days.
Legalization (for countries not party to the Hague Convention): Documents must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the home country and then by the Ukrainian consulate. This applies to candidates from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and some other countries. Processing may take 10–20 business days.
Translation: All documents not in Ukrainian or English must be translated into Ukrainian by a certified translator. Asia Work arranges translation and notarization in Kyiv after receiving the original documents.
Our team provides a country-specific authentication guide during onboarding. Common mistakes that delay processing:
- •Apostille obtained from the wrong authority
- •Educational certificates with different names than the passport (due to transliteration)
- •Expired apostille (older than 12 months)
- •Photocopies submitted instead of originals or certified copies
Disqualifying Factors
The following will result in automatic rejection at the screening stage:
- •Passport validity less than 12 months from application date
- •Serious criminal record (violent crimes, drug offenses, fraud, human trafficking)
- •Previous deportation from Ukraine or any EU/Schengen country
- •Active communicable diseases (TB, HIV, hepatitis B/C) confirmed on medical certificate
- •Previous visa fraud or document falsification in any country
- •Outstanding immigration violations in Ukraine
- •Undisclosed medical conditions that prevent physical labor
Candidates rejected by Ukrainian immigration within the last 12 months should wait before reapplying. The rejection reason determines whether and when reapplication is appropriate.
